Map Data and Privacy
A record visibility setting controls whether it can appear on the public map.
Public records
Fully public records can appear as map points with their public details. They still need coordinates when the map is set to require them.
Aggregate only, admins and supervisors only, and private records do not appear as individual public markers.
Anonymous points
A public, generalized location record can appear on the map without its title, description, site, or exact location. Its coordinates are rounded before being sent to the public page.
Review process
Activity submissions use the default visibility chosen by an administrator. Program and scholar submissions from non-admin users start as inactive and wait for admin review.
Data quality
If a marker looks wrong, check the written location and coordinates. Administrators can correct the record in the Footprint Map spreadsheet. Imported files should use clear locations and a latitude-longitude pair when coordinates are supplied.
