  • College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Storrs
K-12 Education, Student Achievement, and College Access

EPOCH formalizes the History Department’s commitment to promoting engaged, public, oral, and community histories. This program fosters collaborative intellectual inquiry between students, faculty, and community-based organizations around specific historical themes. Participants engage in training activities, including exhibition design, label writing, oral history techniques, and dialog facilitation. The program culminates in various deliverables such as exhibits, curriculum development, public lectures, community conversations, and panel discussions. EPOCH encourages students to share their work in public forums, take action on social justice issues, develop educational resources for K-12 outreach, and partner with community organizations to address and explore significant historical themes.
